Athletic Bilbao and Villarreal finished 1-1 in a match in the 12th round of La Liga. Basques continued their unbeatable performance since the start of the season and occupied the 15th position with 12 points. Villarreal ranks 6th with 21 points.
In the 13th minute Aritz Aduris slipped into Villarreal`s penalty area, but shot inaccurately. Seven minutes later, the roles were exchanged after the judge judged a penalty in favor of the `yellow submarine`. Manuel Trigeros stood behind the ball, but Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa Arisabaglaga reflected his shot. Villarreal`s midfielder made his way back in the 28th minute when he hit the corner of the penalty area and found the result. The guests could double their lead at the end of the half-time, but Carlos Bakas lost the argument with the home keeper. In the second half, the game continued to be a double goal, with Athletic having better opportunities. Aduris and Unai Nounes were very close to a match. It did, however, come in the 77th minute when Aduris detected head-to-head centering of Belensyaga. In the extra time of the match Denis Cherishev missed an excellent opportunity to bring three points to Villarreal.
