Pelicans point guard Jose Alvarado said he intends to prove himself not only as a defensive player.


Alvarado was nicknamed Grand Theft Alvarado for interceptions and defensive play.


A lot of people have told me that people in the NBA often go down in season two. I don`t want this to happen to me. I want people to say about me: Oh, and he has become even better. What else can he do?


Defense and my interceptions define me a lot, yes. I accept it. And yet I can do more than that and I don`t want to be associated with people only with protection. I am capable of being a good first number. I have a throw. There are a lot of things that I can do that are useful for the team, " Alvarado said.
