Several American Senators wrote a letter to FIFA's President Sepp Blatter, which urges Russia to be devoid of the household of the World Cup 2018.
'The conduct of the World Cup in Russia is inappropriate, as the Forum will strengthen the prestige of Putin, instead of the regime to be convicted.', noted in the letter, a copy of which was sent to the Football Federation of United States.
'Aside from everything else, the household will bring additional economic benefits of Russia on which sanctions have been imposed by the international community.', it is said in the letter, signed by both senators, Democrats and Republicans, including former presidential candidate John McCain, a critic of the Kremlin.
There was a similar request to FIFA one year ago. In March of 2014, the senators Mark Kirk and Dan Coates insisted not only to take on Russia's household of World Cup 2018, but also for the country to be removed from FIFA. Sepp Blatter's response was: 'FIFA is football, not a political organization.'
