Laporta announed his candidacy 17.06.2015

Laporta announced his candidacy for the upcoming presidential elections in Barcelona. The former Catalan boss made a video-message to all his fans and showed their intentions.
'Hello to all! You already know that I will participate in the presidential election. I will do it. Now I feel more prepared than ever. I have more experience behind him. On the other hand, all know and my shortcomings. But I intend to continue to promote the same principles. For me, Barcelona is more than a club. Over the years I've received support from many Catalans. I'm thankful with all my heart.', said Laporta.
Laporta took up the Presidency in Barcelona during the period from 2003 to 2010.
