In the eve of the match between PSV Eindhoven and Manchester United in the Champions League, the English football legend Gary Lineker made the prediction that the Red Devils will be one of the great disappointments in the tournament.
They qualified for the group stages after the emphatic success over Belgian Bruges in the playoffs, where they achieved two wins – 3:0 at home and 4:1 outside. Despite the strong results, Lineker is not very confident in the competitiveness of United at this stage of the Champions League.
Asked if the Captain Wayne Rooney can add a championship medal to his record for the former England striker said: 'His chances are not large. I've never even thought of such a thing.'
'Manchester United is going through a great transition period. I think their fans for some time must be recharged with patience.', said Lineker.
