The Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry, gave valuable advice to the English before their clash tomorrow with Barcelona in the 1/8 finals of the Champions League. The former French national team stated that Arsene Wenger will have to put up with just 30 percent possession of the ball and forget about his quest to dictate the game, if he wants to hurt the Catalans.
There is no doubt that the current winner of the trophy in the tournament, is the favorite against 'Gooners' who have to swallow some of their basic principles in search of ultimate success. 'Arsenal just have to accept that there will be a 30 percent holding on the ball and would have to be maximally effective in periods when it holds.', commented Henry, who has played for both grands.
'The whole team has to defend as a team, and the wings will have to be tight and to defend themselves in their own half. Against Barcelona very rarely get a chance to play, so you have to be willing to sacrifice a part of your attacking game – and at home, and in the visit.'
'When Arsenal has the ball, it has to be brave, to preserve the compactness, to play on the counterattack and scoring every time it enters the penalty area. We should not under any circumstances leave the central defenders without support and have to take care of it all the way to win the Barca ball deep in its own half. If you allow them to make attack after attack in their part of the pitch, then at some point it becomes impossible to defend.', said Henry.
