| | Eddie Jordan said that the race director deliberately interfered with Verstappen in Brazil: Are you saying that Max was treated fairly?20.11.2024 |
Jordan blamed Wittich for ruining Verstappen`s qualifying. Former Formula 1 team owner Eddie Jordan is convinced that Nils Wittich, who served as race director, deliberately acted against Red Bull driver Max Verstappen at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The three-time world champion failed to qualify as he was unable to make his final attempt due to red flags. They appeared 40 seconds after Aston Martin`s Lance Stroll crashed, but Verstappen was in 11th place anyway and did not advance further. The misfortune did not prevent Max from winning the race from 17th position.
Jordan discussed the incident with David Coulthard, ex-Red Bull driver and co-host of the Formula For Success podcast.
Perhaps now [the rules] have in a sense found their natural place, with luck with the safety car depending on the racing gods. We have to assume that the race director never looks at where the cars are, ” said Coulthard.
Of course he`s watching! Of course he`s watching! – Jordan interrupted his interlocutor. – Do you want to say that Max was treated fairly? Was he treated fairly when the red flag was hung after six or seven cars had passed? Come on, David, don`t be stupid.
You know that the gods are in the hands of Lando [Norris]. They want Lando to win the championship. But this will not happen, because Max has outsmarted him. That`s it.
Coulthard replied:
Well, I don`t know if that`s true. I guess sometimes the racing gods just. . .
The red flag was the wrong decision! It was a mistake! He screwed up, didn`t he? Eddie responded.
