Sainz is pleased with Ferrari`s progress this season.
The Scuderia driver will leave the team at the end of this championship and will continue his career with Williams. While his place at Ferrari will be taken by Lewis Hamilton.
Despite this, Sainz noted that he is very pleased with his performances this season, as he feels satisfaction from helping the team progress.
I leave the team in good spirits. The fact that I managed to win two races this year and Charles Leclerc three more is a demonstration of all the work the team has done in recent years.
As well as the fact that the team is now able to perform in Sunday racing - that this year we have built a car that performs very well in racing, while last year that was our weak point.
We are talking about the same fact that recently we have managed to improve in qualifying, which was our weak point this season. All this shows that the team works well as a unit.
We are moving in the right direction. Weaknesses and mid-season issues have been addressed. Qualification issues have been resolved. Our weaknesses in terms of strategy, which were visible for two years, have also been eliminated. How the problems with the car bouncing, which appeared in the middle of the season, were also eliminated.
There are things that just work really well, and the team works great together. All this makes me proud of what we have achieved. After all, right now we have a very good team assembled.
And that`s what makes me happy, even when I think about the impending departure - that I was able to contribute to it. Although at the same time I’m a little sad that next year I won’t be on our site, ” Sainz said.
