| | Green on criticism of Tkachak for 21 penalty minutes: The chatter is unfair, it`s crazy. I prefer a player who makes mistakes out of emotion and passion over a player who makes mistakes out of passiv26.12.2024 |
Travis Green responded to criticism of Brady Tkachak. The Senators captain received a 21-minute penalty in the NHL regular season match against Vancouver (3:4).
Ottawa head coach Travis Green responded to criticism of Tkachak from fans who blamed the captain for the defeat.
We`re lucky to have this guy. Firstly, he is a talented hockey player: tough, daring, passionate about victories, and victories specifically in Ottawa. He`s really a very good player.
If you look at hockey in general, be it at the junior level, AHL, NHL or any other league, anyone would want a player like that on their team.
I think this is unfair. Is he perfect? No. There are few, if any, perfect players in the world. But sometimes when you have something for a long time, you forget how valuable it is.
I think the Senators are very lucky to have this guy. The chatter around him is unfair. Will he make mistakes? Certainly. All players make mistakes. So I would urge everyone to cool down a little bit because this is really not fair.
My God, to criticize a person just because he is emotional and wants to win? Seriously? We want all our players to be emotional and hungry for victories. Criticize such a player? This is just crazy. Nobody is perfect.
Will he sometimes make mistakes that could cost us a goal? Yes, it will. But I`d rather have a player who makes mistakes out of emotion and passion than one who sits and hides and makes mistakes out of passivity. It`s not fair.
You want to see passion in your team. From day one we say we want to be a team that is difficult to play against. Every player has the ability to be an awkward opponent in their own way.
This could be persistence, returning to defense, skating. Our team is built on work and competition. And I think we`ve lost a little bit of that lately, ” Green said.
