 | | The representative of Beckenbauer confirmed that the Franz organized the payment to the FIFA official to the 2006 World Cup in Germany: I did not think that the money would be used for bribery13.03.2025 |
Representative of Franz Beckenbauer testified about his charges of corruption. In 2016, the former player of the Federal Republic of Germany, who held the position of member of the executive committee FIFA, was accused of fraud, money laundering and illegal assignment of funds during the promotion of the German application for the 2006 World Cup. Bekkenbauer in 2005 allegedly transferred the former official FIFA Mohamed Bin Hammam 8, 4 million pounds. Bin Hammam was eventually convicted of corruption and removed from football.
In 2020, the case against Beckenbauer was terminated without a sentence after the statute of limitations. The ex-football player died in January 2024.
By the words of the proxy, Bekkenbauer Fedor Radmann, after meeting with the then President Fifa Joseph Blatter, Franz said that Grant Fifa looked good and asked Radmann to contact Bin Hammam. After a telephone conversation with the Qatari businessman and the then head of the financial committee, FIFA Radmann was called an employee from Qatar and said that a pledge was required in return.
Fedor explained that Beckenbauer organized the payment.
I reported this to French Beckenbauer. I had doubts about why FIFA did not solve this issue within the organization, but I did not think that the money would be used to bribe someone, ”said Radmann.
Fedor did not ask about the purpose of payment: because this is not my business. The former head of FIFA BLTER must testify next week in the video.
Radmann also explained that he himself only later learned that Beckenbauer had previously received money that went to Qatar as a loan from French entrepreneur Robert Louis Dreifus.
In April 2005, the German Football Union (DFB) paid 6, 7 million euros FIFA, which transferred money to Louis Dreyfus a day later. The translation was declared as a contribution to the planned gala concert of the World Cup, canceled in early 2006.
DFB reflected this amount as operating expenses in 2006. According to the prosecutor`s office, this was unacceptable. Thus, the association has evaded taxes in the amount of more than 13 million euros. Former DFB President Theo Tsvvziger, the only remaining defendant in the case, categorically rejects this accusation.
