UEFA is discussing the possible cancellation of extracts in the Champions League from the next season. According to BILD, currently the governing body of European football interviews clubs about possible changes in the regulations of the Champions League.
It is reported that UEFA is discussing the abolition of additional time in the playoffs of the Champions League. In the event of a draw, by the sum of two matches, it is proposed to determine the winner of the confrontation in the penalty shootout in the main time - it is assumed that the abolition of additional time will reduce the load on the players.
It is also proposed to introduce a rule according to which the teams from the TOP-8 tables of the general stage, which go directly to the 1/8 finals, will be held at houses for reciprocal matches of all stages of the playoffs with teams that have taken lower places. Now this rule applies only to the stage of the 1/8 finals.
In addition, the breeding of clubs from one country to the stage of the quarterfinals is discussed - it is believed that such matches at earlier stages are not interesting for both fans and broadcasters.
The decision to adjust the Champions League regulations may be made by the UEFA competition on May 30 at the UEFA Assembly in Munich.
